Standard Soldering

The everyday jobs — ports, jacks, connectors

Done with a quality iron and flux. Common parts are usually in stock; less common parts arrive in 2 days.

Charging port replacement

Lightning, USB-C, micro-USB. The most common soldering job we do. Physical wear from years of insert/remove cycles or damage from a yanked cable.

USB-C port replacement

On phones, tablets, and laptops. If the port is physically damaged and cleaning does not fix it, replacement is a soldering job.

Headphone jack replacement

Where those still exist — on phones, tablets, controllers, and laptops. Same story as charging ports: physical stress and the joints fail.

Laptop DC power jacks

Barrel-jack laptops where the DC port has lost its solder or cracked its board pads. Replacement port plus re-soldering brings the laptop back.

Battery connectors

When a previous repair attempt damaged the on-board battery connector, we can replace it instead of writing off the whole board.

Custom mods & odd jobs

Controller back-button add-ons, custom fan setups, non-standard small-device work. If it has solder joints and needs attention, ask us.

Micro-Soldering

Board-level work under the microscope

For components smaller than a grain of rice — the repairs a lot of shops call impossible. The nearest shop that handles this kind of work is 3+ hours away, so we are one of the few real options in the Basin.

Console HDMI port replacement

The most common board-level failure on modern consoles. PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch — all covered. See Gaming Console Repair.

Phone charging system repair

When the phone will not charge and the port itself is fine. Often a blown tristar IC or a damaged resistor on the charging circuit.

Water-damaged board recovery

Corrosion under the shielding cans. With the right technique we can often save boards — and the data on them — that other shops call dead.

IC replacement

Power management chips, audio ICs, charging ICs. Replaceable when you have the right tools and a steady hand under magnification.

Broken trace repair

A scratched board trace from a botched previous repair can leave a device non-functional. Often fixable with jumper wire under the microscope.

Data recovery from dead boards

When the priority is the photos and contacts rather than the device itself, board-level work can give us direct access to the storage chip.

We use aftermarket and factory-grade parts by default because they cost less and perform well for most repairs. If you specifically want OEM (original manufacturer) parts — Apple, Samsung, Sony, etc. — we can source them. Longer lead time and higher cost, but the option is there. Just tell us at intake and we will quote both so you can choose.

Common questions

What is the difference between soldering and micro-soldering?

Soldering is the everyday version — components you can see with the naked eye, done with a quality iron and flux. Charging ports, headphone jacks, USB-C, DC power jacks. Micro-soldering is board-level work under a microscope for things smaller than a grain of rice, like HDMI ports on game consoles, IC replacement, and water-damaged board recovery. We do both.

What kinds of things do you solder?

Charging ports (Lightning, USB-C, micro-USB), headphone jacks, laptop DC power jacks, battery connectors that got pried loose, broken flex-cable pads, and various through-hole and standard SMD work. We also take on odd stuff — non-standard devices, small gadgets, weird one-off jobs. If it has solder joints and someone will not touch it, ask us. What kinds of things need micro-soldering?

HDMI port replacement on gaming consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch) is one of the most common. Also: phone charging system repair (when the port itself is fine but nothing charges — usually a blown IC on the board), water-damaged board recovery, IC replacement (power management, audio, charging ICs), broken board-trace repair, and data recovery from otherwise-dead boards.

Can you get original manufacturer (OEM) parts?

Yes — OEM parts are available on request. We use aftermarket and factory-grade parts by default because they cost less and perform well for most repairs, but if you specifically want original manufacturer parts we can source them. Longer lead time and higher cost, but the option is there. Tell us at intake and we will quote both.

How long does a soldering repair take?

Standard soldering (charging port, headphone jack, battery connector) with a part in stock: usually same-day. Standard soldering with a part to order: 2 days for the part, next day for the repair. Micro-soldering (HDMI ports, board-level) is typically same-day or next-day. Emergencies can be faster with next-day part shipping.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointments — walk in during business hours. For less common parts we may want to talk first (call or text) so we can order the right piece before you make the trip.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes — lifetime coverage on the part we installed and our labor on that repair, for as long as you own the device. It does not cover new damage (drops, liquid, cracks after pickup) or problems not caused by our part or our work. Warranty repairs jump to the top of our repair list.
